Meet Lizanne Coetser
M.Ed. | Graduate Certificate in Career Development and Counselling | CICA Registered Professional Career Development Practitioner (RPCDP)
Lizanne is a dedicated career development practitioner with a genuine passion for helping people find clarity, direction and confidence, at any stage of their learning or working life.
Her work focuses on the people who don't always fit the standard mould: students exploring pathways beyond ATAR, homeschooling families navigating further study options, adults reconsidering their career direction after a significant life change, and those living in regional or remote areas who deserve the same quality of career support as anyone else.
Lizanne's approach blends career counselling, coaching and practical planning — always adapting to what each individual genuinely needs, rather than applying a fixed program. Sessions are conversational and exploratory, grounded in evidence-based frameworks, and focused on building the self-awareness and practical strategies that lead to real, lasting decisions.
She holds a Master of Education and a Graduate Certificate in Career Development and Counselling, and is registered with the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) as a Professional Career Development Practitioner — the national benchmark for ethical, qualified career practice in Australia.
"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10
"I believe we don't always get to see the road ahead — but Someone does. I started Sea Change Careers for the people who felt stuck when a door closed, to help them turn around and notice the one that had quietly opened behind them."
— Lizanne Coetser
What to Expect
Working with Sea Change Careers is a thoughtful, personalised process designed to help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and direction.
Career development is rarely solved in a single conversation. Each session provides focused guidance, while the real momentum often comes from the reflection, research, and action you take between sessions. This approach supports meaningful and sustainable change, rather than quick-fix advice.
Clients can expect:
A warm, professional, and individualised approach
Evidence-informed career development grounded in recognised practice
Space to reflect on your strengths, values, options, and next steps
Practical strategies and tailored guidance relevant to your circumstances
Between-session activities or reflection prompts where appropriate, to help turn insight into action
Sessions are delivered online via Webex, making support accessible wherever you are in Australia.
Whether you are exploring a career transition, considering retirement, navigating alternative pathways, or seeking a clearer sense of direction, the process is designed to meet you where you are and help you move forward with purpose.
What is Career Development?
Career development is a lifelong process of learning, exploring and shaping the way you engage with work and education across all stages of life. It is not a single decision made at school, nor is it reserved for people in crisis or transition, it is an ongoing investment in understanding yourself, your options and your direction.
Career development includes:
Exploring your strengths, values, interests and skills
Setting meaningful short and long-term goals
Navigating study, training and qualification pathways
Managing career transitions, setbacks and changes in direction
Building resilience and adaptability in a rapidly changing world of work
Whether you are a student choosing subjects, a parent supporting a young person, or an adult reconsidering your direction, investing in your career development builds confidence, clarity and long-term satisfaction in your work and life.
What is a Registered Professional Career Development Practitioner (RPCDP)?
A Registered Professional Career Development Practitioner (RPCDP) is a qualified professional recognised by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) — the national peak body for career development practice in Australia.
To hold RPCDP status, a practitioner must complete a CICA-endorsed Graduate Certificate in Career Development or higher, maintain active professional membership, commit to ongoing professional development, and adhere to a strict code of ethics.
What this means for you as a client is straightforward: you are working with someone who is formally trained, ethically accountable, and continuously developing their knowledge and skills. You are not receiving generic advice from someone who has simply taken an interest in careers — you are receiving structured, evidence-based support from a nationally recognised practitioner.
Values and Approach
At Sea Change Careers, the work is guided by a simple set of beliefs: that every person has unique gifts and a purpose worth discovering, that there is no single "right" path, and that with the right support, clarity is always within reach.
Sessions blend career counselling, coaching and education — not as separate, rigid disciplines, but as a flexible toolkit drawn on according to what each person genuinely needs in the moment. You will never feel processed through a program. Every conversation is responsive, exploratory and built around you.
Underpinning everything is a commitment to integrity, respect and genuine service, and a quiet trust that even when the road ahead is unclear, the next right step can always be found.
